Service pack - additional costs
I've ordered a new Discovery Graphite along with the 5 year service pack. This looks like good value, almost too good to be true. I don't know how long the service pack has been available so it may be too soon, but my question is, should I expect the service pack to cover the full cost of the first 5 services, or will there be extra costs along the way for non-included items? I'd expect to pay for tyres and brake pads that need replacing, and once the warranty runs out after 3 years then repairs identified during a service will fall to me (extended warranty is a topic for another day).

AIUI, it expires after 5 years or 50k miles, whatever occurs first.
If you do less than 10k a year, you get 5 services out it. If it is serviced on a mileage basis, it covers 3 services
It covers required oils + filters as per the service schedule, and that's about it My D3 Build Thread

Hi I think this is a good deal whatever but better if you have annual services where mileage is relatively low and you get the full 5 services. If you do higher miles the deal ends at 50k miles and you may well not get the full 5 services depending on how quickly you hit 50k. I went for it and hope to get 5 services as I'll be on annual intervals and less than 50k miles. Cheers Adrian

I expect to hit the annual and 10,000 mile thresholds at about the same time, so should get the full 5 years from it. Current car has 83,000 miles after 9 years. I'm just trying to work out if my annual maintenance bill should be zero based on the servicing and warranty, excluding tyres and disks, or whether to brace for financial impact. It could be worse - I'll burn though mine in 18 months! Still good VFM and an absolute steal for anyone who can string it out for the full 5 years 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Well mine had its first service last year on the service pack. It only cost me the insurance waiver for the courtesy car Velar MY18 D180 S Narvik

I understand it also covers Ad blue top up and brake fluid change as well during the 5 years and the 5th service also covers gearbox, transfer box and diff oils iirc.

I found that link before... Suggests they do 6 things at the first service, plus top up the AdBlue. I've looked for a more comprehensive service schedule for the MY16 Disco but not found anything. Surely they do things like inspect steering and suspension, transmission, electrics etc.

Remember it doesn't include things like clean brakes, they will inspect but not touch. I found with my last D4 that the pads last a lot longer than D3 so will need cleaning every couple of years at least. I intend doing 6 monthly on this car as my last ones did jam up a bit.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Thanks for that, Dave T. Is their a guide to maintenance for the D4 over and above the service schedule? This is my first Discovery and I have no idea what to expect. I've never had to clean brakes on a car before, is there other routine care to plan for?
