Service Reset at service by main dealer
Sorry if this has been covered before. My car after having a 45K service is showing the service countdown - days I think as it started with 28 - now on 23. It was a main dealer service and the dealer is telling me that they certainly serviced it correctly and sometimes a software glitch stops the service indicator reseting. I know from here you need faultmate to reset it yourself and they tell me to do it now (on 47K) means it would foul up as they can only set it for 15K or a year.. ?
I am not keen to watch it go to neg (300+ days) till I get to 60K.. but more importantly do you think the glitch is on the car .. or on the garage software. The car is under LR warrenty and if it has a glitch (minor) surely they should sort it.. it might get worse?
Sounds to me like the glitch is the dealer, suggest you take it back and get them to reset it correctly, if it's under warranty it's definitely their problemThe End

I don't see why they cannot just reset it for you now. So long as you keep a note as to when the next service is due there is no problem. You will have to do this regardless if they let you run -300 days.
Just seems like they cannot be bothered to put right what they didn't do properly in the first place. For details on the next Kielder Safari click visit the Kielder Safari website

Thanks.. So we don't think the IDS can have an issue then (Adigorn) Do you know if they can set it for less than 15K or whatever needs to be done. I am happy to take them on... it feels like either their machine is faulty - bad luck for everyone that uses them or my car is faultly.. needs to be sorted then. Or in the 4 days they had it they did not reset the thing!
I have not named them yet as they are normally very good.. but this smelt of BS to me.
Thanks all
Andy

service indicator
I,m looking for a little bit advice as well, but slightly differrent than this......
Mines was serviced at 37000 miles ( 3rd service), at independant garage. at the time there was no service warning on the dash, and they never reset anything. Then about 1000miles later, I started to get a service indication on start up, and it started counting the miles....display now reads service -2088 for few seconds then timeclock symbol
and -27 I gather it means 27 days overdue since the last service interval reset.
Okay, now took it back to garage and they hooked their computer up to it and couldnt reset it and suggested I go to the dealer. So Im off if I have to do that.
Any suggestions I could get it reset without going to dealer/stealer.....

I've got an IDS and Omitec UCM. We could try and reset it if you like and see if we can get to the truth?

Resetting the service interval via IDS is a one button job, albeit that button is quite hidden away and easy for your average ex burger flipping technician to forget.
When pressed. IDS looks up the vehicle market and decides what values to set in, but otherwise is in no way a technically difficult or problematic job. IE since day one there has never been any change in the software that allows an IDS to do this and any reference to software based difficulty is sheer and utter rubbish.
Wiggs is quite right to recommend our SRT for this job and i on behalf of myself and everyone, offer thanks.
The SRT provides a plethora of entirely usable selectable options that really quite simply allows you, the owner of the vehicle, to take absolute charge of the functionality that the built in service reminder provides.
Cost wise, the SRT is just GBP 46.13 (excl. VAT) and GBP £53.04 (inc VAT @15%)
If you buy it direct from us, postage can add quite a bit, but we are working with the likes of Pete Bell who will be able to supply it a fair bit cheaper at shows, due to the fact that he gets them in, in bulk to minimize shipping costs.
