Servicing my car
I've had my 2007 D3 for about 3 month and, as it has just gone through 135k miles, it is asking for a service... I'm just not sure where I should take it and what type of service I should put it in for!
The car has a full service history, with the last service at 122k miles including belt changes, and passed the last four MOTs without issue. It underwent a LR 'health check' last year due to a tow bar recall and everything was fine. All fluids are topped up, engine runs smoothly, no error codes, brakes are good, all tyres have at least 4mm of tread, new battery, etc - The only thing I wouldn't mind being looked at are the suspension bushings, but only because the last work on these was in 2014.
Being new to the D3, I checked the local dealer website which lists a '135k mile service package' costing nearly £500, but it just seems to be a vehicle check, oil change, filter change and top-ups. The Kwik Fit around the corner will do a 'full service' for around £180 and an 'interim service' for £104, with local garages a bit cheaper (the difference between 'full' and 'interim' just seems to be a check of engine systems and replacing fuel and air filters).
So... does the dealer 135k service actually involve work unique to the D3 (e.g. air suspension, differentials, air compressor checks maybe) or is it just essentially an overpriced service that you can get somewhere else? If so, then should I go for a 'full' or 'interim' service?
(I also thought of doing the oil and filter change myself, but not sure I've go the time!)

Hi
If i may say , as urs is a 2007 want to ensure ur oil pump cover has been changed
Ref ur suspension , if u suspect worn bushes , lower ur suspension to access height, grab the top of the tyre and push/ pull the tyre to see if u can feel any movement
Also who ever u choose take into consideration of what oil and filters that use, ie if it’s good quality
As urs is an auto the sealed for life gearboxes is a myth so would be best to check if the oil has been changed
Maybe one of the forum members might know of a local recommended independent garage or if u wish to do the servicing urself there’s plenty of advice and help here
Hope that helps a little

That's a useful link, thanks.
Curious to see item 40. "Check torque of tie rod end nuts. Tighten to 76Nm if necessary"
Is this JLR admitting that they are likely to come loose? Never heard of it though....Not such a Disco Newbie now!

Definitely go to an independent specialist. Kwik-fit are utter monkeys from my experience. At least with an independent you will get them adjusting the park brake and also know if the little area’s that can be problematic.

Ok, so I went with an independent dealer (a garage that only does land rovers!) in the end: £235 + VAT for full service booked in towards the end of November. Hopefully they'll do a good job! Although there are no independent dealers in Cardiff is seems... This one is in the countryside!
