Shared engines ?
My Posh sister in law, has a 2009 Jaguar XJ diesel, which is a 2.7 TDV6. She goes on about it endlessly....I was just wondering if that is the same motor as in my 2009 D3. Both built by Jaguar, can't believe that they woud bild two separate motors.
Now that would be worth being in the same room and seeing her face.................. 1955 SWB Series 1 86 inch
1960 SWB Series 2 88 inch
2009 Discovery 3 HSE Bournville Pearl

Not sure about the XJ but the S-type 2.7 liter engine is the same as on the D3. is not identical but close enough that it can be transplanted and be compatible.

They are all TDV6 'Lion' engines, built by Ford at Dagenham. There are different 'versions', i.e. different maps, different/additional turbos, different oil pick-up or sump configurations to suit whatever vehicle they are destined before.

The Lion engine family was developed and manufactured at Ford's Dagenham Diesel Centre for use
in PSA Peugeot Citroën vehicles (as DT17 as part of joint venture begun in 1999), Jaguar Cars (as the AJD-V6),
and Land Rover vehicles.
The engines share the same bore/stroke ratio, with the V6 displacing 2.7L.
The V6 was launched in 2004 and as of 2011 also serves in Ford Australia's Territory SUV.
The V6 engine meets the Euro IV emissions standards.
A 3.0L was added in 2009 and is based on the 2.7L.

This continues through to the TD6 and SD6 used in RRS, Disco 5, Jag XF, F-Pace etc. It's all the same engine.
Built in Wales these days, I believe
