Short intercooler hose
hi
may i ask how many have replaced the small intercooler hose please
am about the replace my front struts and thought whilst doing them i might as well finally fit the 3 x new silicone hoses i’ve got , not worried about the other x 2 as there’s plenty of pics describing how to fit them
just didn’t wish to start trying to get the small one out if it never splits or can open a can of worms
apologises asking and many thks in advance

I had to replace mine when it started to leak. First symptom was observation of an oil leak followed by a full blown split indicated by a blowing noise and lack of power when accelerating. Its an awkward job but not excessively difficult, made easier if the clamps holding the steel section of hose between the small rubber hose and the next bit of rubber hose is loosened off.

hi
many thks and that’s extremely help
did wonder that and makes a lot of sense to allow movement , am i right in saying it can be accessed by the side, ie if i take off the heat shields and inner plastic wheel arch
doubt even when i take out my strut to replace it won’t allow any better access
have also got the T bolt clamps
thks again

Correct. I took photos as I removed the heat shields as it is not obvious how they are replaced correctly.

you could also mark the shields 1 2 3 4 or front rear etc
and or put marks on them where they meet.
anything to help and save time later !

Hi pete
also wondered that , but knowing me i would think “ now was number 1 the first or last i took them off ,
but know what u mean , can put numbers on each end so in theory should match up , but will take some pics as well
am hoping , “ famous last words “ with the strut removed if it may give me a little bit more room
look what just turned up ,
just waiting for new nuts and bolts for the bottom of the struts and some S shaped spanner’s
will also change out the voss connectors for the better brass pushfit ones , like i already have on the rear valve block

I guess I was just thinking of a small line where they aligned, but this is probably OTT
ANyway, take a photo after you have marked them. So you can see what the idea was.
And if nothing else, you will know your marks face the inside of the wheel arch, which is a further way to get them wrong

i know what u mean and is a good idea, so will make life easier when i start refitting them
, ref the marks showing inside , yeh upside down
not looking forward doing the short hose , just got to wait for a half decent day
not worried if it takes me a week to fit everything , will also check the infamous 3 x connectors whilst everything is out
rather do all the little jobs in one go and just take my time
am always so grateful for the fantastic help

true , not sure if i’m honest , been looking through the forums pictures to try and see how far the nut goes on
but won’t be any hardship looking at the original bolt currently fitted when i start
rechecked the part numbers and there correct
will take some pics as i go through the job in case it’s of use to others
