OK, I need help...
I am still at the "If I'm not driving it, I'm cleaning it stage..." of D3dom (still )
It has Side Steps... (elderly in-laws )
I am more than happy to live with any self inflicted bumps/dents/scrapes etc, but am on a crusade against parking "dings".
I am forced to leave the car in many car parks on my travels and am trying to decide on the addition of the rubber side mouldings for the doors. My D2 ended up with a "hammered" finish look, which did not help at resale time...
My problem is I look at the D3 without and decide that it looks so good that I won't get them... Then I see one with the strips and change my mind! - How fickle, eh?
So, would they add appreciably to the "parking ding" protection or is the best policy to leave it to the side steps and select off-road mode when I park?
Love to hear your collective views...
Thought: I 'spose I could buy a Doberman and leave the windows open?

My motto "protection - always!"
I also think it looks rather good. Mine's silver and in ONLY my honest opinion, the black bits contrast nicely. Wonder if its a colour thing. My previous D2 was silver and again they looked good. Not so keen on my Alveston Red though.
Maybe dark vs light? D3 HSE V8...

It's not a 'cure all ill's' solution but the doors are vunerable and at around £300 a dent (if you use LR) the strips are well worth it ! 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Should pay c.£50 for an "easy" dent, from one of the mobile firms.
P.S I have door strips and now prefer the way the D3 looks with them, although I did used to prefer without.
The protection they afford is really down to luck I think, but has to be better than not having them.

Needless to say, I won't be returning there - I now understand how & why the reception area at the bodyshop is reminicent of a Monaco hotel - robbing 's

Just for info not all dents on the doors are cold metal repairable
Care should be taken on:
Swage lines (not to many on a D3 door)
Folded edge about 1 inch around the perimeter of each panel
Protection bars (non visible unless you remove the trim)
Sound deadening
A good smart repair guy will know as your dealer they use as this will be a great source as they will know the LR product literally inside out.
Given the above any extra protection would be well afforded

I'm only saying what I paid for a shopping trolley dent about 15 months ago...done by GS thames Ditton
I know that I could used 'Mr.dent' or whoever.... but I was having 'other' works done at the time so it made sense to have it done 'properly' 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

carpark damage by an unknown assailant, too high to be from another vehicle and the door handle is unmarked

The paintjobs on both sides of mine are stuffed ...I'm not going to worry now unless I 'accidentally' have more serious damage ...or it's just before I want to trade. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

It does - together with witness marks where they've done their job unfortunately, I don't think this was accidental mechanical damage
