Smoking Engine (not FBH related)

Very short journey last night (no long journeys for some time) - huge (smoke screen) amounts of smoke out of exhausts with a burnt oil smell - cleared, but car felt a bit sluggish - no warning lights

Car started OK this AM - no warning lights, no perceivable drop in Oil and drove OK?

Getting Indy to look at it ASAP - but any thoughts??

Has your D4 had the second turbo oil drain pipe upgrade? Helped my mate fit new pipe on his early D4 last year after it started oil smoking on acceleration i.e. when the second turbo kicks in. It has completely cured the issue.

Thanks for response - no it hasn't - but this was a HUGE amount of smoke, not just an acceleration plume?

Unless it has built up as been tootling around on 1 - 2 mile journeys for a fortnight at barely above 40 mph max

Yes it would build up whilst tootling around back roads then pull out onto a main road and there would be a smoke screen! I witnessed it once and was shocked by the amount. A tiny amount of oil makes a lot of smoke.
The upgrade consists of a new shorter oil drain pipe and a blanking plate. Most trick part was removing the starter to gain access but overall not too difficult job.
