Without access to a step ladder at home and ladder and a good flat and firm surface to stand the ladder on on holiday it's hopeless. Even now I've emptied it, I can't get the wretched thing off the car as my good lady is too "vertically challenged" to help me take it off the roof.

Open upper tailgate and lower tailgate and then close the upper tailgate on its own. You now have an elevated platform to stand on - now pull the box towards you then tilt and lower it to the ground.

Simples.

or open rear doors and stand on the seat or do what SWMBO does and find a public seat or in this case fishing catch boxes, park up close to it and use it as a step i thought was genius Laughing

I've just gone and folded down the bottom half of the tailgate, lowered the top half, then used the lower half as a platform to easily access the rear of the box (this was the really difficult bit before!). Thanks for the thought Thumbs Up I think I can even get away without a rear ladder (though, truth be told, I'd quite like one!)

Ever thankful for that split tailgate Thumbs Up
