Does the sound drop out from your door speakers?
Over the last couple of years I keep losing the sound from by mid/low frequency door speakers. If I tweak the volume it seems to kick them back into life. Several of you have reported the same thing so I've put up a poll and thread to gather the facts, with a view to getting it into the "known issues" section of the site.
Things that my local dealer has done to rectify the problem so far are:
- Checked all connections. No problems found.
- Replaced the amplifier. Solved the problem for a few months, but it came back.
- Replaced one door speaker. Solved the problem for about 9 months, but it came back.
Now I'm out of warranty, so I just tweak the volume and the speakers work OK again.
What are your experiences with this?

My drivers side keeps going off also depends which is on fm or CD.

It's the passenger side in mine.
Not done anything about it as it's so intermittent, and I don't believe the dealer would do much without seeing (hearing) the fault first hand.Disco 5 HSE Lux

Had something similar (less sound out of passanger side), stealer did a "hard reset", took the battery leads off and touched them together for 30 seconds. Seams to have sorted it.
Drivers side on mine, I tend to notice it more when listening to Radio 5 for some reason

My dealer wouldn't do much until the problem had been demonstrated. When it next happened I drove straight into their forecourt and phoned the service guys without leaving the car. They got someone out straight away and he confirmed he heard the problem.
Then when I asked them to sort it out they admitted he was from the parts department and so his opinion counted for nothing. Aaahhhhh!
I agree - it does sound worse on Radio 5. It's probably because R5 is a mono statiion and loss of one channel is more noticable.
The Hard Reset sounds an interesting idea. Might try that

Driver's side does this. Stealer said nothing was wrong (but didn't check speaker ).
Most evident when satnav lady starts whispering.Have a nice day!

Mine does it, driver's side. I suspect its a bad connection on the speaker terminal. Sometimes if a little bit of moisture or grease gets in a spade connection they will do that, when you whack up the volume it 'blows' the insulator away for a while.
One day I'm gonna take the door inner off and solder the connection.
Get this on the driver's side, I traced it to a connector pin between the midrange and the tweeter having too much play. I bent the pin slightly so it makes better contact and it's solved it. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
