This is on my Duratrac’s that I’ve only had a few months. Plus everyone I know running them have spoken to their insurance provider and not one has been refused. As I understand it they are exactly the same compound and construction but are now classed as a competition tyre hence the reduced rating.

Hi
That snowflake is the point for checking the min depth during winter use where m+s tires are still allowed to be used. Youĺl find a goodyear logo at the spot for min wear depth during summer.
It is not related to the mountain snowflake winter tire symbol.
Duratrac used to have the mountain snowflake, now not anymore, you see the circle of a blank on current tires where the symbol used to be before.
M+S tires while allowed to be used in winter conditions in certain countries MUST have the speed and load rating as defined in the homologation of the car and CAN NOT be used with a on dash speed limit warning sign or electronic speed limiter. applicable in EU
BFG has no approved tires for the D3
posted earlier in a different topic:
Quote:
Hi,
i've been through this in the past weeks
no chance, no tires available within the approved dimensions/specs.
Carefull with the duratracs: no more snowflake so cannot be used as wintertire with a speed limit label on the dashboard. (i had 5 delivered and had to auction them afterwards Big Cry )
You'll bump in load and speed limits for all rough AT and MT profiles.
I have contacted:
LR: no solution and no possibility to expand the range of approved tires (confirmed through UK and SK importer)
Goodyear: Duractracs are faded out for EU market. All productions since start 2018 do not have the snowflake anymore and not all sizes will be produced.
Cooper: no plans on making a higher speed rating approved AT/MT tire, nor a snowflake AT. They will come with a dedicated winter tire in 'a year or so'
So ended up their AT3 sport, otherwise only the grabber AT3 is suitable. Rest are pure road use tires.
With LR not opening up the specs there is an open market for a MT or rough AT tire for all D3, D4 and RRS out there. No interest as far as i found out.
It is Censored to me that manufacturers used the D3 and D4 to launch and promote their products and then simply stop producing them or lower the spec so the tire is not usable anymore. (goodyear MT) It is also questionable that we need a 200km/h speed rated tire on a vehicle with a max speed of 180km/h and most of all that LR sells you the best offroad vehicle without suitable tires available to use it.
I proposed LR to send out a speed limit software patch (160km/h) to the dealer network so we can use Q rated tires. Multiple available.
With the patch installed and a certificate we could change our technical documents and be legal.
They were going to let me know..... low hope and no response till now
Confused
anyone for a group effort?

Recommend me a tyre
Ok back on track.....(gettit)
I like the look of a chunky at tyre
I’m not sure gg at3 float my boat
But as we stand I am now in the market for a potential of 12 tyres (3 d3’s)
Swr is after a set too, we purchased duratracs a few years back at Southam tyres
But ol Yog#2 in running on 18” as opposed to ol Yog#1 on 19”
New rims is not an option as I’ve sprayed these and like the look of them.
In summary
I am after a all season at chunky look tyre for 18”rim

I didn't think Duratracs in 255/55r19 were ever 3PSF rated - Mine are 23rd week of 2016 and are not. My friends ones are 22nd week of 2014 and they aren't either. Id be amazed if they ever could be as I found their snow & ice performance in this size mediocre.....
They were very similar on the snow/ice to the BFG Mud Terrains I had on my previous Disco 1 & 2's.
My father has them in 245/75r16 on his Disco 2 and they were brilliant in snow - they are 3PSF rated.
