I’m no expert but think it should be safer? Smaller space less room for acceleration/deceleration?

nope... but the only people i am likely to carry in the 3rd row are fully grown adults so all the guards would have to come down as the divider needs to clamp onto the guard to be fitted properly.
if i did have any kids to cart about they would be on the 2nd row anyway in case of a rear shunt.
