The RLD is only as good as the tension between the wheel and the body of the vehicle. Many thefts are by crooks simply turning the spare round and round and round if it is loose enough. Eventually the cable will snap/fray as it knots, or tries to.

Get an RLD but keep a good check on the tension of the cable making sure it holds the wheel but won't let it rotate.

Shame JLR can't come up with a simple protruding piece from the chassis that would prevent the spare wheel from being turned a full rotation.

Just be aware that the RLD is fantastic but it can't stop the wheel being rotated if it isn't tight enough, and they do slacken off..
