So related to my post on the picture I had last week, lowering the spare was fine, but winching back the old tyre there was a lot of squeaking coming from the winch.
Can you oil them? How do you get at it / where?
I did notice a lot of crud around the nut for lowering the tyre, looks like Yarwell mud Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

Having just taken mine apart the answer is yes, but grease is the better option. Mine was jamming without securing the wheel in place.
To remove lower off wheel.
Remove 4 off 10mm nuts and 2 10mm bolts, keep a hand on the winch when releasing the last nut or bolt.
Once out you will see what looks like 4 rivits. Drill these out from the back. The mechanism will now come apart.
Mine had been over extended in the past causing the cable to twist and start to unravel, this in turn caused the cable to jump a turn in the drum, therefore i ran out of travel. I modified the winding drum, using a hacksaw to remove plastic where the cable would no longer fit, I then greased the drum and housing, wound the cable back on the drum by hand and refitted. I didnt bother with the rivits, its clamped in place from underneath anyway, these are so that when installing it doesnt come apart. now works fine.
I suspect if your winch is stiff you could have a similar issue.
