Spare wheel winch nut

Hi guys,

Quick question: what does your spare wheel winch nut look like?

The manual shows a hex-type nut, but the one in my car is round with a small hook-type opening, and whatever is required to turn it is missing from the toolkit Shocked

You use the hook part of the jack handle, as if you were operating the scissor jack..

Or if you get bored with that:

Have you checked it's not alongside the scissor jack? It's also the winder for the jack, IIRC.

Emptying the back, removing the slide floor, tipping the seats, etc is pants. So I made an adaptor to fit the triangle hole that takes a 22mm socket and drive it with a 1/4" extension through a little hole in the sliding floor an down between the seat. Makes dropping spare a lot easier!!

I think I chucked out the handle with the Jack as I am pretty sure the handle had failed too !.

Now I am the proud owner of these "improved" winches that have a hook instead of a nut that you can put a socket and ratchet on, does anyone have any other ideas of what can be used to turn it ?.
