SPECS cameras on M5

got this in an email today Sad
Quote:
New SPECS Speed Cameras which were introduced just before

Christmas on the M5 are going 'live' TOMORROW.

They are positioned between Junctions 29 and 31.

The first cameras read your number plate and if you arrive at

the next camera too quickly you will get a £60.00 fine and 3

points onyour licence (or worse if you are going over an

un-disclosed threshold speed).

They do not use film, and so you will not see a flash and

prosecutions are electronically produced because there will

be so many of them that it would require too many people

to process them manually...

And get this...

...there are no warning signs up, and although warning signs

are in the Home Office guidelines their absence will NOT

constitute a defence!

The cameras are installed between M5 J29 Exeter

(Honiton Road) and M5 J31 (A30 interchange)'

Let's be careful out there Wink

As you join M5 from A30 (west bound from Honiton) there are signs saying Average Speed Cameras (or similar) as you enter the roadwaorks.

So are these things there just for the duration of the roadworks or are they permanent fixtures?

Are they on many motorways? How do you spot them?

Yellow cameras hanging over the carriage ways or pointing at the carriage way positioned on the hard shoulder. 1 camera per lane Wink

Is it just me, or is it amazing that so far Speed Cameras and shaped charges haven't become personally aquainted? Twisted Evil

They have in europe, there's a website dedicated to their destruction!
Got to agree, nothing as satisfying as detonating a nice stick or three of PE4 8)

I think that the specs has a flaw, if you exit the average speed zone in a different lane to your entry, it does not register.

I think Lord Jeremy C revealed this one Wink

That may be true but if you look closely at the 40mph SPECS cameras on the M60 at the moment through Stockport - in places they only have ONE camera covering THREE lanes Shocked
