You guys are all out of your minds! A dishwasher on wheels going 117mph???? I would have paid money to see a Disco with an RTT flying down the road. That's funny!!!2006 D3 Tonga Green

Hi Pete,
do you think there is a chance to remove the speed limiter - e.g. with the MSV-2?
I have a RRS 3.0l TDV6 (limits at 202 kph) and a Disco 4 3.0l TDV6 (limits appr. at 193 kph) - here in Germany the limiter especially of the Disco 4 is annoying...

In the CCF you have a option of Vehicle Speed Limit Configuration mine is set to Default which is 250KPH though i dont think used yet.
Im not sure what the German cars are set to, so its hard to build an information database as ive only ever seen UK cars and not driven them all at speed.
i think ENT has been playing on UK private roads latley and got hummm 130MPH ish from his commercial D4.

... do I understand correctly: If I buy a MSV-2 for the Disco I could read out my parameter and even change it?
Are there discounts for the MSV-2 if I want to use it for my RRS and the Disco?

I cant give you the answer i think you are hoping for as ive not tested it. From wha ti see most UK cars are set to 250mph and some onhere report a speed limit so it would seem possibile that even though the option is inside the CCF landrover dont use it yet and limit speed in other ways.
What i can say is this, if you buy a MSV2 you can read the CCF, see the info Vehicle Speed Limit Configuration and its current setting, if you so wish you can change it.
But as i say, mine is already 250 so ive not changed it and tested it at any different at speed so i cant say if it will remove your speed limiter or not.
You can buy 1x MSV2 hardware, and 2x software licences, 1 for each car.

About 4 months after getting my D4 3.0 TDV6 I took it to Germany and gave it a buzz, getting easily up to 118 mph but then no more. It was not straining and I am sure it would have been happy to do more. (I had switched back from kph to mph on the display so it would give me numbers I could understand)
Given the track record of the LR GPS taking me off motorways and thorugh town centres just for the joy of it, I use the phone GPS in the car at the same time for a second opinion (a bit like SWMBO). This tells me that the dash board consistently reads about 5mph over the actual speed when over about 20mph. It is interesting that even upto about 100mph it is still about 5mph out, it does not seem to be a percentage.
But what it does suggest is that when I topped out at 118mph on the dash I was actiually doing 123mph.
I returned to Germany last month and for some reason felt no desire to exceed 100mph, maybe it's old age ....2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)

Pete, do you know your speed limiter information in the diagnostic menue?
Would be interesting to compare to my setting - i will look there as soon as possible.

Mine also reads 5mph over an external GPS shown speed, ive tested it with an external nav and also a Road Angle.

Under EU type approval, the speedometer is permitted to have a maximum variance of 110% plus 2.85 mph above the true speed of the vehicle ...so if my poor attempts at calculations are correct then theoretically the speedo could show up to 125.7 mph when doing 112mph. Legally the speedo can never show a figure any less than the true speed.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

... time goes by... at this time I don't even own one of the cars mentioned in november 2010.
Now there is my 5.0l V8, which has a speed limit of 190 kph.
Next week I will get the MSV-2 and check the "vehicle speed limit configuration" setting in the ccf. But when I read Pete's statements, I think this won't work.

The sensible place to put the limiter would be in the ECU (The Engine one, how did it occur that aircon has an ECU.... anyway) Map. The motor industry decided that they would not make the bypassing of limiters that easy. I would thing a remap would probably remove the limiter but then with the drive by wire maybe they've got a secondary limiter.
