114mph indicated speed when what you describe as the speed limiter activated in the form of the engine seeming to flat spot (drag). Flat straight track - windless condition - temperature around 25 degrees C. I though that I'd caned it too hard and it had given up. But no harm done as the engine is running perfectly.
I note that the advertised top speed in 112 but I guess speedometer vagaries could put the real figure either way of that so it was merely proof of the advertising blurb.

All being well Pete I'll be able to tell you on Dec 29th, when I pick up my D4 HSE and head off to the inlaws in Cz for New Year
Can you wait that long?
Although I understand there is a UK experimental section of the A40 called the Witney Autobahn just outside Oxford that seems to full of RAF boys going as fast as they can!

I have tried about 4 times now and each time it is 116 mph. It gets there quite well but then.....no more. The autobahn is the only place to try it, it's just embarrasing when you have to pull in to the next lane to let a 10 year old fiesta pass by!!! discodeeva

Thanks lads for the info.
DiscoDad a very interesting figure well to me anyway saldy, weirdly the exact figure i had in mind was 118.0605MPH, was your shown 118 maxing out the car or did you have to let off, or do you think it had more to go ?
Bogblaster, any updates in the future will help me with my thoughts, please do let me know.
I think i now need to see any we have had anyone go faster than the 118 and the caris still pulling.
Pete

I had an indicated 120mph (117 on GPS tracking) on the Autobahn with an oztent and LR Expo rack on the roof, two fridges, Gas BBQ and assorted crap for 2 blokes "man camping" in the back and there was still more to give.
In a D3
That Pete had already played with I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Perfect thanks you, so it seems yours is really limited to arround 116pmh or 187/188kmh .
Is your car a KMH car or MPH car ?

I got an indicated 115mph at Gaydon on the test track and I thought that it was a case that either my bottle had gone west or my legs were too short to force the pedal down any further... now I know that it must have been going at full chat!
That was just after we had done the bit where they asked me to accellerate to 100mph and then stamp on the brakes as hard as possible...
OMG... I'm going to die...
No sir, it's just to show you how good the braking system is....
Just hope that when I do need to stand on the brakes in the outside lane of the motorway that I've got another D4 behind....
Anyway.. slightly off-topic but, 115mph is my vote...

Pete, it is a UK car. I think the next time I try it I will also change the electronic settings into KPH.... just to check against the dial! You never know.......

Pete, the car got up to that speed quite normally then just stopped acellerating. I knew it was the limiter.
In comparison to the D3 it was 3mph (indicated obviously) faster.
Pardon me for being a bit thick but would the 20" wheels be a factor?

HI
Thanks for the info, it will help me sort this out for the German roads
I think the wheel size should not affect it as the speed is measured at the hub. If the wheel size changes and its not calibrated to match the road speed may change due to the rolling size of the tyre but the dash shown speed would stay the same from the hub speed calculation.

In my LR4 brochure, I read that for at least the US models with the 5.0 V8, it's 121 MPH.17 Discovery 5 HSE Si6, Fuji White on brown | 07 LR3 SE 4.4 Java Black on Alpaca
