Personally I have no problems with Macs, they're good at what they do just as MS, Linux, Solaris etc. boxes are good at other things. If I wanted to do some high-end graphics stuff I'd use a Mac, if I wanted to set-up an Enterprise level eMail system I wouldn't Smile

I use Windows and Linux coz that's what I earn a living doing not through any preference.
As you know I'm completely sick of computers and looking for an alternative career, got any suggestions Question Very Happy

Sounds a bit extreme to me, changing to a Mac just to get spell check on the DISCO3 forum! Shocked

I think I've found something that will work fine, testing it 'offline' at the minute to check it all works ok Smile

Actually, I would do the reverse... For high end graphics, (Not Photoshop, but something like 3D Studio...)I would use something else than a Mac, but as for setting an enterprise level eMail system,THEN, I would use a Mac... Maybe running in an X11 window but most certainly on a Mac with server software... Much less risks of downtime... Wink Apache (Admitedly a Web server software...) even comes bundled on a Mac ! And you can start your own server from your own computer quite easily...

As for having no problems on a Mac when using Microsoft Software it comes just from the fact that, strangely, the Office pack is less buggy than under windows and that the alternative are either not too use friendly to set up like the "free office" alternatives or not complete like the Apple alternative iWorks which still lacks an Excell like software at the moment...

Well, in around 18 months time, Macs will be able to run Windows as well as OS X, so you will be able to have your cake and eat it, so to speak. Choose between Steve's reality distortion field or be one of "Billy's bitches" as it was so eloquently put in another thread.

Another smug Mac user
