Spot lamps
Has any one got any photos of spot lamps mounted on their D3 , (without A bars etc , just Plain Jane )
and what is the best method of mounting them.
I already have a set of Warn lights which I took off my old TD5, as I would like to put on the D3

Original LR safari 5000's fitted on mine, mounted straight onto the grill. I just added some extra plastic behind the bottom rail to stiffen it, and used a plastic strap to stop lamp shake, which you sometimes get with this big lamps. They connect via a plug and socket behind the grill, so you can still remove the grill and lamps in one go.

Stu do you really travel with the spare on the rack all the time? surely that adds to wind resistance/noise; makes it easier to steal and can be heavy object for you to move when needed?Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!

Nope
Don't think it makes it easier to steal, though. It's got a great big padlock on (and an Uncle Ray wheel support bracket), and whoever nicks it would be very obvious - unlike someone laying under your car Besides, they'd have to be mad to try and lift that weight off the roof Disco 5 HSE Lux

Al
Hi Al,
This looks great. I just enquired of the Stealer this week about the cost of the D3 spots etc. He quoted £750 for all parts and labour !!!!
Any chance you could show how you did the electrics for your lamps ?
Thanks

I had to read your post twice as i thought you said 'rooflights' and i was about to be staggered that you were wading that deep!!
Thank god for that SJR...I read the post a couple of times as well...glad it wasn't only me thinking the same... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

mine are wired "old fashioned" way, with a 45A relay triggered from main beam, live switched (I leave it on all the while so lights always work with main beam). Relay is inside the black plastic box on the drivers side of the engine bay (think the alarn unit is in there). cable pass down behind the grill, into a plug and socket (from Maplin) so that the grill/lights can easily be removed.
hope that makes sense.
