Spot light fitting - slightly different question

I'm looking to fit a half-rack. The size of the rack in mind will mean that it ends at around the point where the roof crease is (front and middle-row seats). I'm also toying with the idea of then fitting lights to the rack.

What are the opinions on this in terms of light spread/projection:

1. A complete waste of time as they will be too far back and therefore the car roof will just create shadow etc ?

2. Or I will still get a projection of light, especially as they are high up?

Depends on which spots you use and what the aim is for them. If for distance, then no problem, but if for close wide , then you're right about the roof, it will cause a shadow. Thumbs Up

well...looks like I need to think about pencil beam and not euro beam...

Might just post a "which lights..." thread then sit back and wait for the Lightforce versus RooLite discussion Snigger

If you will put them that far back, I would suggest rectangular.
I have them on my roofrack, and projecting the beams against a wall, you clearly see a rectangular lightbeam above (from the roofrack spots) and one below from the standard lights.
So if you would take round spots, they will lighten up more your roof instead of rectangulars.

What I am trying to say is that it is better to have a square beam halfway over your car then a round one.
And like Bodsy says.....use them for distance.
