How are your spots wired???
Though just fitted spot lamps to front 'A' Bar, not yet got around to wiring them.
Although they come complete with an internal switch, I don't think I really need this.
Was thinking; as I could possibly only use them with no oncoming vehicles, it would make sense to have them come on with my main beam.
Hence thinking that's how I'd wire them [with relay of course].
Saves intrussion into cabin/dash.
How are yours wired?🏴
I have mine connected to a wireless remote switch (with relay included) it has a little remote 'fob' and I was able to program it to the homelink as well. This way I can control it independant of the lights.David

Thanks to the electro 'art' of a certain individual my lights are wired into the main beam ...but I still have the switch on the dash to remain legal. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Why do you need a switch on your dash to be legal - providing they only come on with your high beam, then this is no problem.....

Because they are 100 watt units which are not road legal 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

ronp - mine are like yours, ie disconnected. I have all the bits from the LR kit to wire them properly and when the weather improves and I get a free weekend I'll wire them up, probably as directed by LR - and then pay a dealer to 'activate' them if some kind sir doesn't have an autologic availableSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

That explains it then although what I did on my last car, was put in a HID conversion to my driving lamps - wow - what a difference that made, shame the ones I am looking at for the Disco have a H3 fitment and not H7, might have to go and buy some new bulbs

I stuck some Hella 3000's to the front of mine and they are just tagged into the driving lights via a relay and fuse that come on with the main beam, if or when I 'upgrade' the bulbs I'll probably use one of these:
to prevent me having to muck about with dash switches and the like.and theeeeennn......???

Stu, they seem fine although not had much of a chance to use them in anger yet as they've only been functional for a couple of weeks! only thing I would say is that they're maybe a bit large and do spoil the look of the D3 front a bit!and theeeeennn......???

ISTR that Road legal is 55w low beam .....60w high beam.....no doubt someone will correct that if its wrong though 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hope you'd say that DG, mine are 8" Maxtels with a 55w bulb.
[and a damn good buy for £50]
was thinking about changing up to a 100w bulb - but now maybe not.
So, "direct wiring into the main beam" here I come.
Anybody got a wiring diagram for this [with fuse & relay] to save me mucking about trying to find correct coloured wires??🏴

a) The colour of the main beam wires to tap into.
b) Exactly where (under the bonnet etc) the Lamp Relay (numbered 30,86,87,85) is
c) The best way of linking 30 via fuse to the battery.
d) If abandoning the switch, can pin 85 just be strapped to an earth pointSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
