30mm seems a lot, I would have thought there was a chance of fouling the wheelarch with that much, hence the question (and being too lazy to read the thread properly Rolling Eyes )

Hi 10,

It seems a lot when you say it ,but in practise it works fine. No fowling at all, and we did operate the suspension at full travel in all directions. CLUB "Ah Shor it'll be grand"

I'm surprised the wheel nuts still work, or do these spacers first bolt onto the hub and have their own seperate bolts for the wheels to go onto? IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!

you second assumption is correct, the spacers bolt to the hub with there own bolts. then the wheels bolt on to the spacer with the standard wheel nuts. CLUB "Ah Shor it'll be grand"

When I did the Winter LRE course in Finland last year, the D3 had chains on all 4 wheels and the instructors certainly never mentioned needing extra spacers for them. Have been too lazy to try my own chains yet - and we haven't had any snow (worth mentioning) here this year Sad

Perhaps the spacers were fitted, and as you say they just never mentioned it. Or perhaps they were using inexpencive chains. i have seen some that are really thin, they probably wouldent need spacers. CLUB "Ah Shor it'll be grand"

Typical !!! I can not find a copy of LRM anywhere i have searched the whole country, They have Land Rover everything else just not monthly.

Call them, tell them who you are and ask them to send you a copy. I've not seen LRM around here either, usually get LRW, or sometimes LRO. A few places I asked used to do LRM up to a year or two ago, but stopped for some reason. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

The chains were König 255s. I cannot imagine that they were thin, for these people use them every day and in conditions which are certainly much more severe than you would ever find on a normal road (see my avatar Smile )
