Squealing EPB - Charge from dealer |
|
My EPB has started shrieking intermittently and I have booked it into the dealer to have it sorted. The vehicle is still under warranty and they are going to re-adjust the assembly. They have informed me that there will be a charge for blowing out the rear discs in the way of carrying out the adjustment. Anyone heard of this - is it a reasonable charge for them to make?
Is there anything else warranty related that I can get them to check while the rear wheels are off?
Thanks guys.

I've never had to pay and I've had mine done a few times. I would insist its a fault that should be covered under warranty Pot Noodle Challenge Winner 2011

Mine had a squeal and when I asked the dealer to clean it they said they would have to charge me as it was over 3 years old. It had extended warranty on it but said it didn't cover that, had it been under 3 years old, they would have done ir FOC!

Yes LR put a stop on this being warranty claim, saying it's down to "wear & tear". In fact the EPB looses adjustment due to dirt ingress from wading etc. jamming-up interfering with normal workings. Now when my local dealer first tried that on me I justed asked whether what they were say was the my 4x4 had a park brake that was unfit for purpose because it lost adjustment if you took the vehicle offroad - did the trick for me. Subsequently I 've learnt how to adjust it properly myself using information found by searching this forum. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

My squeaking EPB after being adjusted twice, now has new shoes fitted under warranty. Not gone wrong yet but still plenty of time
