STEERING FAILURE

....as i try to pull away from the curb, the steering wheel just makes a bit of a snap inside and spun around like a roulette wheel. I was at the curb, and had the wheel already turned when I parked, so upon getting in the car to leave the next day, I didn't even put any pressure on the wheel to turn away, I just held it where it was to move ahead, then the "snap" and some little pieces fell out. Not exactly the tough connection I've known in my Disco 1 and 2 vehicles.

Anyone heard fo this elsewhere? It's just a bit annoying to not have directional control over a vehicle. Apparently too much fancy pants mechanical design in there and not enough solid engineering or at least build quality control.
