Steering Noise - "Clicking |
|
Ok, so after reading through a bunch of threads I haven’t come across a similar issue. I have a noise coming from my steering wheel, a “clicking” sound (not a knocking sound) that occurs when I turn the steering wheel (either way) at low speed. Usually heard when I’m busy parking the car. But before anyone suggests the following usual suspects, CV joints, Tie rods etc. It must be noted that I have virtually replaced the complete front suspension/steering components, which includes the following (both sides):
- New upper and lower control arms
- New half drive-shafts
- New wheel bearings
- New Tie rods and ends
- New stabiliser links
- New stabiliser bushes
- New discs and brake pads
The noise was present before the parts were replaced and is still present. So I am now moving on to the steering column as the next “probable cause”. Are there any parts or any wear points within the Steering assembly that I should look at first, that may cause any issues?
Any input/info would be appreciated. "Randy the Landy" - 07 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE,

the steering shaft UJ's sometimes partially seize up.
Is the clicking coming from under the car or inside the cab area ?

Sound comes from within in the cab....sounds like within the steering assembly. Possibly behind the firewall. But its definitely not coming from outside the cab from the CV joints etc. "Randy the Landy" - 07 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE,
