Steering Wheel removal - AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH |
|
I have swapped steering wheels over in many of my cars, and for others, so have done this many times. Did it on my D3 so have the tool and the experience.
BUT, I have spent almost 3 hours trying to release the airbag on my MY12 D4 as I have a replacement wheel to go in. I just cannot do it! I can't find the wire/bar to hook onto to release. Every video on YouTube and when I have done it in the past, 30 second job. I've been at it for ages. Its simple, but it ain't!!!!
Help!!!!!
Did it change at all?
Am i being thick?
I know it is this simpe

I remember it taking me a while one day simply because I was fishing about in the wrong place and that’s after doing it numerous times before, all with no trouble. Half the trouble is you can believe you’ve got the hook only to discover it’s one of the adjoining plastics. Leave it and go back to it!

From memory, I think I was trying to hook it too far back rather than the angle I had it at.

If I remember correct the tool needs to go at a slight angle, I was finding it impossible until I checked the alignment on new steering wheel, got the angle correct on new wheel and managed to do it (eventually) 2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.

SUCCESS!!!!!
Done it, at last.
A triumph of patience and tenacity (and the removal of the paddles so I could see the damn thing) and it was done!
New wheel on.
The joy!
