Sticking Xenon Headlight
I replaced the standard Headlights with Xenon Units about 12 months ago. No issues, other than the flicker when you first turn them on.
However, the Main Beam (not Full Beam) has started to shine high - sort of stuck shinning higher than it should. It happens to different sides, whenever it feels like it. It happens when the lights are first turned on more often than not, though I've seen it stick after I've dropped off Full Beam.
The beam appears (when shinning at the garage wall) to be creating a beam pattern straight ahead rather than dipped. Then all of a sudden it drops off and the pattern sits back down to the Dipped-beam pattern of the other headlight. No amount of flashing full beam or turning lights on or off seams to invoke it to return to the correct pattern.
It is seriously hacking off other road users (more than Xenon headlights normally do).
Any help appreciated.

Hi Laurence, my headlamps did this on my second D3. The dealer just replaced both units under warranty, so I have no idea how to fix them. There is a small shutter in the lamp that shields part of the bulb when you dip the lights. This shutter is sticking.
There is a post on here about how to take apart the headlamp, it involves melting the glue around the outside of the clear lens with a heat gun

My off-side unit occasionally sticks ...especially if the main beam hasn't been used for a while. My temporary solution is to open the drivers window, flick the main beam on and off while thumping the front of the headlamp with my fist. After doing this about 6 or 7 times the unit stops sticking for a few months. I don't think I could reach my front Headlights leaning out of the Driver's window - you must have longer arms than me DG. Coffeecup

I have quite a different mental picture of DG now!
I suspect the opening of the window is so he can reach in to flick the lights while standing beside the O/S/F wheel and thumping the light with his other hand. However, he may have the luxury of a beautiful assistant!A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

All down to interpretation ...Navigator has got it . Sadly no beautiful assistant was available for me to flick and thump with 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
