Hi Andrew,

A few members of this forum have had this issue (including me), your dealer should fix under warranty.

See this thread for more info:-

Andrew - welcome to the site. Thumbs Up

I have a manual and sometimes find 1st and reverse difficult to get into, but i have no problem with the gearbox or clutch. What i have found is that the gear selector forks inside the gearbox do not quite match up, so a inch or two of movement either forwards or backwards helps the situation. I had a similar problem on a Lexus, which was a real PITA to get into reverse.
Not saying you don't have a problem, but it's worth bearing in mind.

cheers Thumbs Up

My manual gear change is difficult to engage reverse. it seems to be less forgiving than other cars, if you get the action right is goes in a lost easier (doesn't it always Whistle )

Do folks with left hooker have the same trouble, they may have a better position to engage the gear.

Having seen the thread before and being frustrated by the same problem I listed it as a fault when i took the car for 15k service at MJ Fews. I even referred them to the LR Tech bulletin. Collected car and they say all was fine and "claimed" to be oblivious to the existence of such a problem or tech bulletin. We agreed to disagree and as the motor had only done 15k on a 56 plate, it was put down to still wearing in. I assured them I would be expecting a closer and more detailed inspection at 30k service.

We will see in a years time then!!

Mine's a 56 plate and at around 15K miles it was difficult to get the car into 1st and reverse.

Took a printout of the TSB to the dealer, they replaced the clutch with no fuss under warranty.

The gearbox has been superb ever since (now at nearly 17K).

Had my clutch replaced at 14000 miles dut to all the classic symptoms.
Immediately after it also felt a bit stiff ( I was excited to get the car back) but after 1000 miles the gear change is transformed

Mine has always been a bit stubborn, I'm just used to it now, and have grown muscles where I hadn't got them before... Laughing
