Help. Got in car this morning realised I had left the sunroof open over night and it bloody rained.
Started the car but couldn't remove gear selector from park. Get Failed F symbol where gear selector should be and a transmission fail limited gear selection available from the display.
Suspect center console got wet during rain. Have dried it out as much as possible, but no luck.
Am stuck 800km from home so urgent help will be appreciated. I will go anywhere, as long as it be forward. David Livingstone

If you lift up the panel behind the parking brake switch, you should be able to put your finger in and move it towards the D on the drive selector panel there is a price of White plastic that you can push up and move it out of park. Might not help you get the other gears, but at least you could get on the recovery truck home.....? Bodsys Brake Bible

Bodsy your a genuis. Thanks man, new it had to be simple, but couldn't figure it out.
I managed to get all the gears and took it for a drive, seems to be changing through the whole box correctly so suspect it was just water getting into the electrics in the console.
How now do I hard reset this fault? I will go anywhere, as long as it be forward. David Livingstone

It's thanks to one of the Aussie guys with that tip
Unless you've done something major to the electrics, it may just be a case of waiting for it to all dry out. Keep the heaters & blowers on for your 800Km drive home and see if it's fixed by the time you get home. Bodsys Brake Bible

Took it for a much longer drive. Seems as though I am only getting the first few gears. Can't go much faster than 100 as the revs climb too high. 80 is about the best cruising speed.
Is there no way to reboot the system and clear the fault or do I have to take it into a stealer?
I am pretty sure whatever the fault was is now clear. I will go anywhere, as long as it be forward. David Livingstone

Can you change gears in Command Shift mode? Does the gear number appear on the dash?
It's not put itself in Low Range has it? Bodsys Brake Bible

If I go into command shift the D indicator then disappears when I try to shift, but no change in gear occurs.
I am able to shift it in and out of low range and it works fine. just the main box not shifting, seem to get 1-3. I will go anywhere, as long as it be forward. David Livingstone

Managed to unclip the center console. Any ideas on how to remove the shifter knob so I can lift it off? I will go anywhere, as long as it be forward. David Livingstone

Thanks again Bodsy.
As with everything on this car, simple if you know how.
I stripped the console dried and cleaned all the plugs, put it together and voila no faults - everything working like new.
Once again my faith in this awesome vehicle has been restored.
Thanks for the Help
Saved me a pretty penny.
