Stupid question probably --- Rear Discs

Does the whole rear end of the car need to come up to remove rear discs ? Can I lift one side at a time ? Need to get them off and cleaned, possibly adjusted but hoping a clean is enough so I can get shot of the flashing amber and red warning lamps.

You can do one side at a time.

Ok thanks, will give that a shot. I would think to adjust them you would need to have the whole rear axle up ?

Yes. To adjust the parking brake the wheel has to be off but can do just one side at a time.

Thinking back, with the 8 speed, I think you need to release the gearbox using the red handle under the cup holders to turn individually

To adjust you need to turn the wheels. When you stop the 8 speed it goes back to park automatically. To select neutral you need to do it manually with the red handle

Ok....... pulling the cable will certainly allow me to remove the discs?? Resetting everything? Does it do it itself and I’m also thinking that actually making any adjustments to the epb following Bodsy guide won’t work?? Due to the 8spd box ?? Going to google again Smile

To remove the discs you will probably need to turn them to align the hole with the tensioner to back it off as per bodsys instructions.

You will need to leave the epb off but also put the gearbox in neutral. To do that you remove cup holders and you turn the red lever (first time I sat there pulling it and wondered why nothing happened Whistle ),

To do it properly, you need to use the IID tool to put the brakes in service mode. This makes sure that the EPB is fully retracted and the cables at their most slack.

Yep but without the tool........ so really if I get it in neutral with the red lever then follow Bodsys guide from there? Rather than yank the cable ?

Yanking the cable with the loop only releases the epb

Just make sure you pull the handbrake fuse so there's no risk it can be activated while you have it in bits (or your fingers are in it)
