Sudden drop in fuel economy - Help!!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes.
I bought my D3 last March and got the BAS remap. Prior to the re-map I was achieving around 27mpg and afterwards was achieving 30+.

Around October last year, I had the BAS EGR blanking kit fitted, a 75k service and fitted 22inch Stormers. Following this my fuel economy has reduced to 24/25 and the vehicle sometimes feels like it's maybe in too high a gear and labouring a bit.

I'm aware the wheel change could make some difference due to different rolling radius but this seems to be quite a dramatic reduction.

Any help would be appreciated

have a look at the air filter

45K is the service schedule so you may have had it in for 30k and sometimes they do clog around that sort of mileage

if not maybe the start of the intercooler hose starting to delaminate so have a squeezy feel of the hose if it fells real sort then needs a new one

what size tyres on your 22's?

you may have pushed the gearing up a bit too much. The general advice is not to go more than 2.5% bigger than a standard size tyre. For this comparrison, I tend to use a 255/55x19 as the standard (HSE fitment)

so for 22's this would be one of these:

Tyre code Diameter Circumference Difference
---------- -------- ------------- ----------
315/30 R22 748 mm 2350 mm -2 %
265/35 R22 744 mm 2337 mm -2.46 %
275/35 R22 751 mm 2359 mm -1.55 %
285/35 R22 758 mm 2381 mm -0.63 %
295/35 R22 765 mm 2403 mm 0.29 %
305/35 R22 772 mm 2425 mm 1.21 %
315/35 R22 779 mm 2447 mm 2.12 %
255/40 R22 763 mm 2397 mm -0.04 %
265/40 R22 771 mm 2422 mm 1.01 %
275/40 R22 779 mm 2447 mm 2.06 %

they are all under 2.5% difference, so should be OK.

Is that reading from your trip comp? if it is, I wouldnt believe it at all. I'm running 265/50x20's on mine, which are 1.3% bigger than the standard 19's. My trip comp is generally 3-4MPG above what its actually doing (brim to brim fillup)

Thanks TLO. Will have a look at those once I can work out where I'm looking - I'm not very mechanically minded!

Al, they are 295/35/22 so I guess that shouldn't affect the economy too muc

Andy, it might be nothing to do with the above. U had any ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT warnings? Could be a turbo problem or a good few other things. It's you D3's way of reminding you who's in charge!
