What Suggestions For Mods?
Hi All,
Been a while since I have been around. Still got the 2006 HSE which now has 86k on the clock but still enjoy driving it.
Having traded as a partnership since buying our business in 1996 we are now going to move over to one of the Ltd companies we have also owned for the same period of time. A quick chat with the accountant and as our cars will cost us about £20k a year if owned by the Ltd company and we dare to use them, we have decided to keep them in our ownership and charge the company for use. Those who do this, will know that it is a pittance. £0.45 per mile for the first 10,000 miles followed by £0.25 per mile! Mad!
This means come July we won't be able to offset any more vehicle costs! So in the first instance that has made my mind up to not bother upgrading to the D4. I was unsure anyway as some of the features on the D3 which we use have been removed. But that is another story!
So I need to make any changes to the cars now.
Aesthetically I thought:
D4 rear lights - I like these but do they look good or tacky on a D3?
Supercharged grill. Same question really: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Discovery-3-Supercha...3366cd45d8
Cannot think of anything else, having trawled eBay and only seen really ugly upgrades.
I will get the wheel arches and door mirrors resprayed as the original spray job is showing signs of wear.
Might get the wheels sand blasted and re done as I have treated them badly over the last couple of years and there is a fair amount of pitting.
Of use:
Winch, but which one?
Re map, but again which one?
Anything else you can think of?
Best regards
Chris

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the suggestions.
Hi DSL,
Got to agree the beer fridge between the seats is toooo small!
Hi Digitaljunior.
Got the painted wheel arches, indeed I am told that I was the first to have this done along with the grill and mirrors! Also did this on my TD5. Makes a huge difference.
Can you get the D4 lights? Have not see them. Is it a dealer option only?
Regards
Chris

These will complete the 'freshen - up" of the look, and buying tyres early will shield you from that expense later.Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

I don't sell the D4 lights anymore as the price dropped too low. You can get them off ebay or some forum members do sell them. Price about £200-£220 a set now and easy fit. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

I have the supercharged grille, bluefin remap, full length silver roof rails, chrome wing mirror covers, 7" screens within alpacca headrests with 160gb video ipod, window tints, chrome side tubes and painted wheel arches.
Very happy with it, all quite subtle in my opinion.
Thinking of chrome rings to fog lights but stuck for more ideas too.D3 incl. genuine glass windscreen, front bi-focal headlights, full width rear bumper, self levelling washer bottle contents and audible 'tick tock' indicator stalk

Hi Digitaljunior, I have assumed you are talking about the front lights? Are you? If so where can you get them, because so far I have not seen them anywhere.
Hi Will, your small photo looks good, do you have any more? And what are the wheels?
Best regards

Thanks Grzesiul,
Mine is an HSE so already got the bi - xenons.
Not see the colour coded handles. As mentioned I had the colour coding done on mine straight away and was told at the time that it was the first to have it done! Just need to get it resprayed again. But did not get the handles done.
Are TFC sellers of the winch bumpers or is is Devon 4 x 4 I need to talk to?
Best regards
Chris

You cant just put D4 front lights on, you would need to change the wings and grill (cant remember about the bumper)
The D4 lights they are talking about are the rears like these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-Discovery...3366ed258b which are plug and play apart from really needing the resistors
Have you got clear side repeaters? they freshen things too

Hi Macleod,
You are still around then! Been a while since we spoke! I think I prefer the D4 lights. Didn't those ones come out as an accessory based on the D4 led lights. I seem to recall some folks did not like them as they were different from the real ones, but may be wrong?

Hi The Transformer,
So the same as I listed on my first post. Good oh! I will get them on order.
Did not think the front lights were changeable but got a little confused.
Best regards
Chris

Try Bell auto services in the forum sponsers section or TLO they may well be cheaper and of course totally trustworthy

The wheels are 20".
I think they call them stormers but I dont think they're LR but you wouldn't know it.
They came with the car plus a full set of 18" which are on the car now.
I need to get my backside in gear and get the stormers up for sale.
No, no others pictures, but was only thinking of that recently, will get around to it this week
MacLeod.
I'm with you the D3 LED's are better although the ones pictured might not be ideal for a black D3.
Do you have a link to the source and do you know if they come any darker?
I guess you don't need resisters?
