Survey: your longest faultless period ? |
|
Survey: how long has been the period with your Disco 3 without ANY error messages on the info display, real faults or issues ?
Note that Low MPG, fixed headrests, too spacy interior, poor maps in GPS and other natural features are NOT counted, only faults and issues which are unexpected behaviour against the specs asnd can be repaired.
Benchmark: My record for faultless time is with BMW 525, it's 8 years and 32 days :=) I'm the first owner of it and now it's already 14 years old. Due issues, I have had to visit any BMW service dealer only three times so far. -- too many modifications made to my Disco 3 to be listed in here --

There are plenty of threads detailing some owners issues on the D3 in this forum already, I am not sure your thread is going to achieve anything purposeful above that. What you have to ask yourself is, is your 14 year old Krautmobile capable safely of taking you down a sheer muddy & rock strewn hillside on HDC alone ? will it plough through several feet of muddy water several times and then up & down a hillside wet and laden with rocks with no compaint whatsoever? I witnessed 4 D3's do this on sunday and nobody got an error report, thats the reality of using a D3 that works, so maybe it's time to balance this forum with positive reports of what D3's can do rather than acting a little 'trollish' and re-hashing all the issues everybody who follows this forum is well aware of. If you dont like your D3, be pro-active and chop it in for something else. This is not a flame, I am a little tired of negative threads, how about we start a positive one at the same time.... 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.

Well bloody said that man - people who are just looking to find any old excuse to have a pop at Disco 3's or Land Rover should have the rough end of a pineapple shoved in an appropriate place. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Apart from a flat tyre and a loose connector in week 2... mine has NEVER stopped on or thrown a wobbler off road (got it stuff of course once)... and done some good stuff off road too that would break many other 4x4's
24th December 04 and still going.
My BMW and Audi were NOT as reliable.

I wouldn't find this survey negative at all. Maybe it's just what we need to quantify the real situation with the Disco3. As is often said here, there is a natural tendency for negative reports to dominate on the forum. A neutral survey might bring some of the silent majority out of the woodwork!
Mind you, I can't help much, for I've only had the car for about four weeks. However, there hasn't been anything in that time that has made me need an unexpected visit to the dealer.

Purely positive motivation: to return my faith |
|
My motivation for this threat was purely to get the facts. I believe that people (like I also) write into here mostly WHEN they have issues or problems and want to get hints and help from others. People do not write if everything is fine
=> my belief is that there might be some people around whose Disco 3 just works fine without any trouble . we just never hear about those guys beucause they are happily offroading.
Original motivation of mine was to return my faith after those 7 visits to dealer during 2 months.
