Key Fob Intermittent Working |
|
Morning all
I've been having a few issues with the key fob on my Disco 3, which either won't open or close the car door locks on an intermittent basis
I'm thinking it'll probably need a battery replacement as it is the original, however has anyone else had similar issues and found a cost effective solution - I'm guessing LR charge a heft sum for anew key

No where near as much as it will cost you if the key finally gives up the ghost, cheaper to buy an Iid tool and a cheap Chinese key and DIY It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for the suggestion, do you know where the best place to buy the tool is and if theres any DIY instruction on the net?
I've seen a few places on the internet offering key fob replacements for a reasonable price, but not sure what the reliability of these companies is

Dan is cheapest and quickest full instructions come with the tool, you need a working key to program another without one it may cost £1000’s D3 keys can only be programmed once so sh keys are no good.

You can also do a search for more info
You can always sell the Iid tool if needs be after you’ve used it (heaven forbid as you will need it again) and nearly get your money back. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

If you can do some soldering you can replace the battery yourself. You just need to get a new shell for the key fob as you have to basically destroy the current one. In my case I also had to replace 2 of the surface mount buttons as they were wearing out too. Only cost me $12 total.
