| LR3 Air Suspension Compressor |

I had the intermittent suspension warning light issue for a while, sometimes it doesn't come on for days, some days it comes on and stays on all the time.
I eventually went into Land Rover for it to be checked out. The computer check mentioned issues with the rate at which the suspension was lifting. The dealer decided to replace the compressor at a cost of £800 (car is still on its motorplan, so no costnto me).
some interesting discussion points I had with the dealer during the exercise:
1. the new part has a different part number, this is because all pre-2008 lr3 had a factory fitted part known for an issue resolved in the new part
2. A very common reason for the compressor failing is due to car jacking. The pump is located just in front of the rear left wheel and is often mistaken for a jacking point. 2,5 tons of vehicle hanging on the compressor turns out to be a bad thing.
3. Apparently this problem can put the car in limp mode, and would be hesitant about DIY fixes if this happens to you.

Since having the compressor changed all been o.k. Still got the old one in the garage - too damn cold last leave - and too lazy to check it out and see if there was any obvious faults - will have to next leave. Fitting the new compressor would have cleaned up the connections so will be interesting to see if anything actually wrong with it. Benny

slight tangent on the previous posts but.....
I have reoccurring issues with wiring harness on my D3 failing, apparently a design flaw with the D3 where water can't get away from where the harness lies in the chassis meaning that a 5yr old 40k rough tough 4x4 needs a new wiring harness or a lifetime's supply of spade connectors and single core wire!
Anyone recommend the best place to source a wiring loom? half a plan to replace myself as losing trust in the local stealers pretty fast,
pretty gutted that the warranty does not cover wiring....  Dark Disco 3 - 20" but chunky tyres

have had intermittent suspension height problems, only shows when at speed on motorways, been into landrover twice to fix both times they have said they have changed the height sensors, and 1 EGR valve, it is a 08 HSE with 65000 on the clock,

| Suspension fault normal height only - another one! |

Hi,
I have now had my 06 plate auto tdv6 for just over a year - its now on about 130k mileage.
Since getting it I have had two fault messages "transmission fault - reduced traction" which has come up two or three times in 12 months. And "suspension fault - normal height only which also came up a couple of times over the twelve months untill a few weeks ago when it became regular.
Here are the symptoms:
After starting up suspension raises and lowers no problem.
When driving in normal height after about 4 minutes the fault message comes up and disables the air suspension.
This happened every day for a week, then it was okay for about a week and now its doing it again.
If I raise and lower the suspension once the front rises ever so slightly slower than the back.
If I raise and lower it about three times the front slows down dramaticaly and I get the message "suspension raising slowly" - this may be normal after its been up and down a few times though?
I dont have a fault code reader and I know that using one will be required at some point but I am just looking for your advice about the most likely cause - so I can prepare myself for the financial shock!
Finaly - do any of the fault code readers have the facility to calibrate air suspension.
Your advice - suggestions would be appreciated.

Its always good to start with basics:
1) battery condition, fully charged with batt charge.
2)done hard reset
I can't see model year, if it's pre07 without compressor software and relay update it's likely to be the compressor dying.
Faultmate and IIdtool can read Fcodes and calibrate susp. Best to get codes read or beter get a site sponsor to look at your D3. A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2

I just a 55 plate d3 tdv6 auto 2.7 tdv6 , noticed yellow suspention fault , wont lift the front , rear will raise , after plugging in my fault reader (didn't know its got everything for the d3/4 along with a good depth system of the vechical , I could hear air once I cleared the fault , turned out to be a split in a green pipe hiddern in the plastic under plate of the ns of the car ,,,all working great at the moment ,,

My D3 has suddenly come up with the normal height only message and suspension fault when i went to start it? is it safe to drive? or should i be getting it to a garage quick?

yeah its still at normal height i noticed the other morning it had crept down over night and the other day it went into extended mode on me when i put in offroad mode to clean the sills? looks like i am gonna have to book it in the garage and see if they can get it fixed before weekend

whats the process? do they plug in read the fault first and then replace whats bust?
any idea on average costs? (just so i dont get my trolleys yanked)

Plug in and read the fault codes.
From what you are saying, it sounds very much like an air leak. Usually the dryer or air reservoir is at fault 
New dryer is £70 + fitting at around an hour, IIRC

Cheers gotta ring our local independent back in an hour or so as he is out on a recovery, he said from what i said its an air leak as you can hear the compressor running

Drying the dessicant helped me for already 4 months now. Diagnosis said slow pressure build up, Compressor to be replaced following LR...
Now overnight it sinks somewhat, will check with water and soap for the leak.
