Well I posted it under 'Faults & Fixes' and the topic is '[Electrical] Suspension Height Failure'!!! My suspension failure at the moment is an electrical problem so I would say that this has been posted under the correct topic although there are a few similar topics in different areas on this forum. I am now on my 3rd compressor and every one of them has started to fail this way. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Woody179 it would be good to have some pre history about the other failures. One yes, but now three sounds as if there is an underlying fault triggering the others. Of course I may be wrong, but who knows.

Ill send you all the details via a pm once Ive put them together - would you like the vin number or anything. Basically the first failure was at 2800 miles the second at 3050 and the last one at 3500. Im now getting the suspension fault every time I go out in the car. It works fine when I start up but as soon as I go around a corner I get the suspension fault accompanied by the chimes.
I am thinking the same as you about their being an underlying fault with the car, as I know that the compressor I have at the moment is the revised version.

I must say, this sounds like a simple sensor failure to me. Is it always the same corner, i.e left or right?

Unfortunately it does not matter whether the corner is left or right. Also my dealer told me yesterday that they had checked all the suspension sensors while it was in. The only other problems I have noticed today is that the vehicle rises very slowly from access height and the compressor seems to be working (pretty noisy outside the vehicle) all the time even when the vehicle is at normal road height.

That could be the feed to the 'dustbins' on each leg. Maybe there is a trapped, bent or damage pipe somewhere.

I finally got my LR3 HSE7 back last week after the dealer replaced both the right front and right rear suspension height sensors and a switch (didn't say which one). They took one of an LR3 on the lot and figured out that was the final problem. So far no more suspension problems.

Finally got the car back from the dealers . It has had yet another compressor fitted (now on my 4th!). The service manager told me that it is a newly redesigned model as LR had problems with the first redesign.
The report given to me by my dealer reads as follows
'Air suspension light on dash - carry out testbook and found 3 faults logged, checked pressure and found to be low, checked all pipes for blockage and kinks all ok. Checked all pipes from compressor to reservoir all ok - fit new compressor as failed, left in off road height overnight and checked still same height in morning and retest all ok.'

Would second BN's oppinion.
You must reject that vehicle as a lemon.
once - unlucky (like mine)
twice - alarm bells, something else wrong.
third - taking the p#ss.
Fourth - You are just tooo nice a guy, Please push LR for a replacement vehicle, for us as much as yourself. They'll get away with murder otherwise.
I wouldn't have let it get past the second.

Agreed.
I am going through a bad patch at the moment. I went to look at some wheels and tyres and tried them on the car. When I tried to get off the ramp the car was in 'extended mode and would not move. Realised door was open and tried to get off ramp, but door height was too low behind in extended mode. After six turns of the key nothing.
I called LR and this is normal if on a lift and the wheels dangling, but mine were not, they lifted on the wishbones.
However to get off the ramp we had to lift the whole car up again on the front and rear wishbones drive the car on the ramp with the wheels rotating to 7mph then it cancelled the suspension and droipped to normal.
It is not a fault by the way and I can see the logic, but boy you have to remember a lot.
This car is a laugh a minute.
