| Suspension re-calibration? |

Good evening all,
I have just had my bottom arms replaced front and rear and now I have suspension issues. The car is on its stops and says to drive at 30 mph.
Am I right in thinking that the suspension should have been re-calibrated after the job was complete?
Mark Now gone - D3 Zambezi silver. Smoked / limo windows, various LEDs, DVD in headrest screens. Side steps, GG AT's, software and Bluetooth upgrades by Bodsy.

It was a proper 4 wheel alignment with a hunter system Now gone - D3 Zambezi silver. Smoked / limo windows, various LEDs, DVD in headrest screens. Side steps, GG AT's, software and Bluetooth upgrades by Bodsy.

No, I haven’t got access to anything that can read them.
I’m going to take it back to the garage that did the repair in the morning so they can sort it out.
It was fine before it went in so it’s there problem to rectify.

Hi.
I'm confused now....just had the problem again. Red Light and Drive at 30!
On Friday the mechanic replaced the height sensor as indicated by the codes and it's been fine up to now.
Having seen Map503's comments and knowing that one bottom arm was replaced on my Disco 3 to get it through it's MOT I'm wondering if there's an alignment issue here too.
Anyone suspect it could be that in my case?

Two things (both from reading forum, but not personal experience)
First, when the height sensor was replaced, was the suspension recalibrated?
Second, if one of the suspension arms has been replaced then you should have a had a 4 wheel alignment; “Hunter” seems to be the buzz word for this.
Whether either of these would cause your problem, no idea.
But if you do get hold of a data logging tool then you could monitor what happens as you drive to drill down on the issue.......

Took mine back to the garage, renewed the rh rear height sensor, 4 wheel tracking and recalibrated the suspension and all is now well. Now gone - D3 Zambezi silver. Smoked / limo windows, various LEDs, DVD in headrest screens. Side steps, GG AT's, software and Bluetooth upgrades by Bodsy.

Does it have to be a LR specialist who does the recalibration and the 4 wheel alignment?
My mechanic is excellent but perhaps doesn't have the specialist LR gear necessary to do the work.

I had the Hunter 4 wheel alignment carried out at Kwik Fit, they do a 2 year plan and you can have it checked as many time as you want.

First I'll go back to Dan the mechanic who has a code reader and see what it says.
It seems that this air suspension fault diagnostics can be like throwing a dart blindfolded into a list of things to spend lots of money you don't have on!!!
Not very happy now....

The 4 wheel alignment isn't LR specific so can be done by anyone with the right equipment. Hunter is the preferred equipment. https://www.alignmycar.co.uk/
Suspension height calibration does need a LR specific diagnostic tool. Many people on here have the IID Tool for example which can do it. And any LR independent would have something similar. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Make sure they've recalibrated the steering angle sensor too AFTER the 4 wheel alignment otherwise you'll have problems very similar to what you're currently having.  Mods:

as MikeO and Narpy have said, for suspension recalibration and steering sensor calibration you need a LR diagnostic tool.
When you have a 4 wheel alignment, you need to have the suspension set into 'tight tolerance' to perform the alignment when at 'standard' road height. After the calibration you need to reset the suspension to 'normal tolerance' to avoid damage (apparently. Guess you risk burning your compressor out if you drive the car in tight mode).
After alignment you need to calibrate the steering sensor just as Narpy pointed out.
The GAP IIDTool can do all this, which is why it pays for itself, so I've been able to do all the calibrations myself which means I can take my car to local mechanics rather than use LR specialists for simple things.
If your mechanic doesn't have a tool that can do the LR stuff then you are going to have problems.
Best option is that you get a tool so you have some control over all this.

On the point of forking out £400 and buying the IID Tool.
So. Which of the jobs that I need to do on the Disco will it do? Recalibrate Suspension? Recalibrate Steering?
Will it set the suspension to tight tolerance? Does that allow me to go to my local tyre shop for wheel alignment?
This is turning into a f****** nightmare!!!!
