Just buying an 07 SE which has 18" 10 spoke alloys the tyres are pretty good, good 5mm plus on them. I am looking at changing the wheels to 20" range rover sport wheels. The dealer i am buying off seems to be doing me a really good deal £1000 plus the 18"s in trade (complete with brand new contis on the 20s). I just wondered how much the 10 spokes would be worth with half decent tyres?
There seems to be quite a few sets of the wheels i am swapping to on the secondary market, seems people with RR Sports take them off to swap for 22".
So a plan is maybe to stick with the 18", buy a delivery mile set of 20 alloys i want for around £1200 and sell on the 18", but cannot find any 18" 10 spokes on ebay, to get any idea what they are worth. Need to save abit of cash - went out to buy a 06 S and came back with a 07 SE plus new alloys
Also is it a good idea to stick these 20"range rover sport wheels on a disco? Anyone got any thoughts?

I was just about to post a similar question myself so hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread! I'm looking to sell my 18 inch 10 spoke SE alloys and get a set of used but good condition 19'' HSE alloys. How much can I expect to get for the SE alloys and how much will I need to pay for the 19s?

The 275/40x20 Conti tyres are only 106 load rating, I think if you go 20" the 255/50x20 is a better fitment, take a look at the specials on my web site www.ajstyres.co.uk

I can second what andy at ajs says, I was looking for ages, the conti's will only be a 106y rating which isnt correct, 112 minimum really.
Look at my gallery, I reasantly purchased a set of 20" alloys and wheels from andy! they do make your disco stand out from the crowd, my view anyway.
GOOD LUCK!
P.S I sold my 19's hse alloys on ebay for £400 quite easily.
I might be being stupid here, but 275/40/20 Continental Sport Contact Tyres is what landrover themselves put on, i presume it is better for a Range Rover and not really correct for the disco, or are they not that good for the RRS and that is why people take them off?
I have never had a 4x4 so wondered exactly what difference would it make, the dealer seems to think it will be fine, but having bought from other dealers before, maybe their interests are more important than mine

you've partly answered the question yourself - its what LR put on the RRS, they dont put them on the D3. 20's were never an option for the D3.
Ignore the dealer, its not his life or insurance thats at risk.
Fit 20's by all means (and dont forget to tell your insurer), just get some correct spec tyres fitted. You can pick up a better deal than your dealer is offering elsewhere.

Gone - MY18 D5 HSE - Corris on 22's with Black Pack
Now gone - MY16 D4 SE Tech, Loire Blue, Almond Leather, Privacy, plus some other goodies.
Old - MY12 D4 SDV6 XS Auto - Ipanema Sand with Almond Leather - Plus other niceties, and D4.com sticker
Older - D3 TDV6 XS Auto - Lugano Teal with Almond Leather, 20" Stormers, Shiny Tailpipes, DVD/TV - and obligatory D3 sticker
Ancient - D3 TDV6 S - Tonga with Ebony, 20" Stormers, satnav & DVD
The deal they are offering is very good, but not if the tyres are not right - i will put a call in to cancel the alloys. Will look for something after i get it. At least this way i can either sell the 18" or keep them as a spare if i ever want to do some offroading.
Thanks for your advice guys.

Always reasonable demand here for sets of 18" wheels here but can be famine or feast supply wise. In winter peeps are looking for 2nd sets for winter/ AT tyres, alternatively looking for set of 18" wheels with newish tyres as often cheaper than new tyres. Even if the wheels & tyres have just gotten the car from the end of the production line to the dealer they are still used and massively devalued. Just don't add up the cost of 4 new wheels and 4 new tyres, they may be only worth 1/4 of that. However the same applies to wheels you buy, don't get suckered into paying a little below list price for used tyres & wheels, specialists like AJS & Ken can usually supply them to you much cheaper.

Don't confuse the Range Rover with the RRS, they are similar in name only. RRS is a D3 in drag, made on the same line. It's lighter so has different tyre specs and has a sporty image so they use lower profile rubber. Generally RRS rubber on a D3 is below the min spec and no good if you want to remain street legal. Many dealers, including big chains like Stratsones put them on and shrug when you point them out. They should know better but don't give a stuff, they are not ending up driving the car.
Now the proper RR, certainly the 19" wheels & tyres are comparable (MY06 - pre MY10), don't know about 20" wheels, not my area of interest.

I know this isn't a FS or WTD thread (yet!), but I'm looking for a set of 18" rims to put some ATs on. If either of you chaps decide on a price, pls let me know. There are at least two sets of 10 spokers on Fleabay at the moment - looking like they will go for £300 or so.
Are the 20s the same rolling circumference as your 18s? If not, you need to factor in the cost of a spare too.

there are a couple of sets of 20" stormers, new, on ebay with 275/45 tyres fitted, for around 750, so a grand with your wheels and tyre as well (unless you are getting all 5) isnt a good deal.
chances are the spare is the 19" space saver, so doesnt matter.

Depsite talking to the dealer he can see no issue still Anyway i really like these alloys, can i fit the correct tyres to them, he has offered to do that. Presume that would then cause me an issue with the spare, also does it effect the gearing etc. To be honest it might be more hassle than it is worth.
I quite like the 18" that they come with, but just fancied something a bit different, want to stick with landrover orginals of some sorts. Do not suppose there is a gallery of all the options landrover have done?

No it is a full size spare, so presume that causes even more issues, what are the options for the spare if i went down the 20" route?
Sorry if some of these questions have been covered, have searched on here and got some of the info already. I belong to other forums, where newbies are always asking daft questions over and over and i know what a pain it can be. The advice you guys give is very much appreciated.
Z4m (my daily drive) quite up to speed with tyre choices for that, but this 4 x 4 business is a whole new ball game. Needed a big car and I have been so impressed with the test drives i done in the DISCO, might even swap my daily drive.

Don't forget that 20"ers will make a harsher ride, stating the obv I know. Few peeps have tried 22" wheels and I think that mostly ended in tears. Personally prefer 17" D3 wheels as they are a better ride on our crap roads and as cheap as chips as everyone wants to upgrade them. Pays your money and .............

You could always fit some General UHP's 275/45x20, they work well, I think a 255/50x20 may look a little streched on those Sport rims, nice though.
