hi im a new member. i bought my disco nov 2005, java black. had the car a glazed. but im not happy with the swirl marks. i have sent a glaze an email and awiting response. bought from hadley green barnet, spent a lot money having car treated in and out but thought it would have protected car more. anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of them it is so annoying. thanks.

Lots of carefull washing and Autoglym Resin Ploish and Extra Gloss Protection
That's the problem with black cars - they look fantastic (especially D3's), but they do take a lot of looking after - hence the silver choice Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

A few questions...
You bought it in Nov2006? Glazed from new? (which glaze, AutoGlym, Diamondbrite etc?).
Have you used any other products on it?
Or you've had it since 2005 & now you've just got it glazed but there's some swirl marks you weren't expecting after the glaze?
Just so we're a bit clearer on the whole picture. 
Do you use Car washes or hand wash. Yourself or a contractor? Bodsys Brake Bible

Black will always get swirl marks over time, all you can do is minimise the 'damage' with carefull washing (as above) or do some serious detailing every so often.
Have a look here http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php it is a different world if you want the 'perfect' finish.
Start with the basics, use a MF or wool mitt for washing with plenty of water and MF cloth for drying.
Diamondbrite etc are pretty good but they are not meant to get rid of swirl marks, they are more for new cars or ones that have been prepared.
I saw a 'valeter' at a dealers once supagard a D3 that was sold. The car was in the showroom and was a bit dusty, he went over it with a VERY used and dirty supagard pad without obviously rinsing it first. It looked a lot worse after he finished than before and some poor sod probably paid £350 for that.   Zermatt silver 06 reg.

Mine now has lots of fine swirls, courtesy of Salisbury Plain clay. Jetwashed several times, then gently cleaned with lots of autoglym shampoo using a soft fibre mitt, loads of running water..... and when it dried it still looked beige. Repeated this process for 3 hours, got a clean car but loads of swirls, but then clay is basically silicate in suspension, which is about as abrasive as it gets.
Not bothered by it as it will polish out and there are products out there specifically for swirls and light scratching. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I Had It A Glazed from new. But I thought it would protect it. you know what it's like your eye always sees it especially when it's sunny. I await a response from a Glaze the show room told me it would protect it for 5 years. And no i have not used any other product on it only the A Glaze package it comes with every 4 months or so. next time i but silver.

Sad as I am - spent nearly 3 hours washing / drying / paint restoring (tar spots) / waxing / gloss protecting / wheel waxing / tyre blacking / plastic protecting on Sunday - looks fantastic (and no visible swirl marks)
Silver everytime Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.
