Tailgat handle
I’m having some stuff colour coded. I need to remove tailgate handle but the mrs still needs to use the car so is there a way of separating the plastic part and leaving latch mechanism in place? Parts are going to be a week turn around.

Tailgate Handle
Your only option is to remove the tailgate handle in it's entirety, there is no removable cover with the standard fit item. It'll very probably leave the inserts behind too if it's not been off before.
The handle is only a switch too, not a latch.
If you decide to remove the handle for a whole week, the tailgate will be out of commission which might still be ok for her, but remember, you'll have no number plate illumination at night either. Mods:

maybe you can program the LandRover button on the key to do that function?
I think you: Hold LR button down and then press the tailgate release

That'll only half unlatch the tailgate and if he removes the handle, he'll have to swing on the rear wiper in the hope it comes open. Mods:

Thought it might be a case of buying a replacement. I’ve managed to get another set of arches so I’ll try and pick up a cheap handle. Even a tatty one will do to get me by. Cause I could let her use my car for a week to save some money but I value my rims to much lol.

You could just buy another handle. They’re on eBay for as little as £40

For anyone who is interested. I removed the rear handle and managed to get the cover off without any trouble. The worst part was removing the torx bolts that hold the bottom of the handle to the tailgate as only one undone. The others just turned the threaded inserts in the plastic so had to take the one good one out as well as the three 10mm at the top then pull handle off and holds the inserts with grips while spinning the torx bolts. I then bonded them back in and replaced the handle less the cover so it can still be used.

Well, you've taught me something there.
I've removed a few of those and never knew the top came off, in fact, I'm almost certain mine doesn't.
Was it clipped on or screwed?Mods:

There’s two small screws at the back at each end. Take them out and there’s a row of tabs along the bottom the only visible obviously when handle is off. I went along with a small flat blade screwdriver and released them. Then the whole cover slides up and off.
