The solenoid pulls the cable to release the catch you can connect something so you can manually do this.If you search the forum should find a post explaining this in more detail. Especially if youhave a full height dog guard makes things interesting Welsh Collie Chauffeur Service To Barney & Rooney.

I managed to get the whole actuator out and put it on the outside so its easy to get to inside, the cable has not snapped but its very weak , after about 5 presses it stops working, where is the best place to buy a new one? i had a whole dog create in there so i am so lucky to get it open. cheers

Should i be worried about the cable snapping like it did on my D3 or did they improve them on the D4?
search my posts from a day or three back .... there's an excellent PDF on the forum somewhere on how to create a manual release AND locate it so it's not inaccessible due to dog/load guard (or even luggage I guess ? )
I'm aiming to do it at some point but want to know how much force is required to do it ... so i can maybe use a nicely discrete lever/button to work it.
