2015 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Auto HavanaDiscovery 4
Tailgate chrome trim luxury spec

For some reason it was misaligned.... so foolishly I took it off to realign it. Turns out that previously it had been bodged on with silicone glue on the broken fixings. So now it obviously doesn't go back on - I am angry with myself and as it has holes in the rear panel to accept the clips I cannot drive around without it. Are there any tips? Does anyone know the partnumber and typical cost?

So I was unsure of the aspect of the ebay parts - the part I have is a sort of anodisation with a goldy tinge. 400 euros etc for a new kit is ridiculous - so a new bodge solution was necessary. Very strong double sided did not work as there is only maybe 2 mm of metal in contact (it is a c section). I found a very rubbery double sided like black silicone (in the workshop at work so I have no name) - this rolls up in your fingers - yes like a bogey - so i could make a series of black sticky bogey balls and fit in the inside section of the trim and also around the fixings that were both broken and OK. I clipped it back on and masking taped into position overnight and it was fine this morning when I removed it. Let's see how long it stays but it is good for now.

Hope it cures the problem! Thumbs Up

For future reference, the part from Powerful UK is the OEM item. Alternatively, they do a higher quality, aftermarket self adhesive polished aluminium strip for around the same money Thumbs Up
