Tailgate interior cover (Chequer-plate etc?)
Hi,
Is there anyone that makes a chequer-plate or similar cover/replacement for the carpet in the tailgate?
I use it for making tea and coffee at events so im looking for something with a bit of heat proof. Currently I plonk a bit of MDF down, but was thinking of changing the setup in the reatr etc. Something rubber/poly would be ok as long a hot kettle wont ruin it!
Or anyone dome a nice DIY one with some tips?
Thanks.Disco 3: Lotus Elise S1: Ferguson T20: Audi A2

This is something I've also been looking for as carpet isn't ideal for some of the stuff I put in the back of mine. Any suggestions, pointers etc. would be appreciated Gordon

This ought to be a fairly easy diy job, it's a flat bit of alloy with a couple of cuts.
I recently converted a 130 defender from workshop to dropside, I needed to source mud guards and didn't fancy using plastic so I bought some small sheets of alloy from metal supermarket (most steel stock holders will carry sheets, but ms sell small sheets, will do simple cuts and are really helpful)
I didn't fancy chequerplate and opted for plain alloy, I think it's 5 or 6mm
Here's a fairly crap picture showing them (the extra body it's carrying came up on eBay far too cheap to refuse just after I'd done the conversion!)
