Tailgate release

Seen this advertised for sale
Freelander-1 Discovery-3 Tailgate Release Kit YNI500010

Have you come across it before?
Does anybody think it would be a worthwhile mod incase my upper tailgate fails?

Seems to be basically an electric switch to fit inside the boot that links to the actuator.
Possibly it only does the same as the emergency release using the lock and unlock buttons on the dash ???

Maybe I should just fix a manual pull cable as was posted on here before Rolling Eyes

I've seen this too and wondered if its any use. There's a switch in the pack which doesn't seem to replace anything in the D3? maybe its more aFreelander thing?? What does the switch in the Freelander look like?

Looking at it further, I think it is a generic type of switch that you could fit in a position of your choice inside the car, and it will just do the job of the door handle if that were to fail. Unfurtunately not much help when your cable breaks!
