No sir.
quoted from DVLA webby :-
You will need either the 16 digit reference number shown on your renewal reminder, or the 11 digit reference number from your Registration Document/Certificate (also known as the Logbook) and your vehicle registration mark (numberplate).
Okay - the point being I have it through a finance company (arranged by Kam of the forum) and never received the logbook - assumed this was because the finance company is the owner - I am just the keeper.
Never got a renewal reminder through the post either.

If it is on finance you should still have the registration document, I doubt there are many of us mere mortals with that sort of cash lying around. You should at least get a tear off part from wherever you bought it. You may need to apply for a new reg doc as well.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

You will also need the V5 if you travel to most countries in Europe.
If the D3 is registered in the finance company's name you should also have documentation authorising you to drive it abroad - preferably in many European languages.

If it is financed you normally get the log book, but if it is contract hire they keep the log book. As NJSS says about, you need a "Vehicle on hire" form to take it abroad. On contract hire cars I have had, they send the tax disc in the post and it's either included or they invoice it.
Called Startstone Bury this am - they forgot to transfer the logbook on sale
How long have you actually had the car???
Stratstones failure to notify the DVLA of a change of keeper could actually be an offence! The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

So, for the past 12 months you could have been getting flashed for speeding tickets and getting off with it.
I bet you wish you'd known that don't you!!!
Can't believe Stratstones didn't keep on top of this. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom
