TDV6 - First oil change

I am loath to run my new D3 to its first service for an oil change - it seems to be far too high a mileage.

Is there any reason (other than expense) why I should not change the oil & filter every 7.5k miles rather than 15k miles?

I am seeking to prolong the life of the engine, in a car which I will retain for some years. I had my Disco 2 for 7 years & 117k miles, and it was a good as new mechanically when sold, after oil changes every 6k miles.

If I change the oil at 7.5k miles should I use the recommended Castrol oil, or do LR specify a "running-in" oil which I should endeavour to identify & source.

Recommendations please.

I use this oil:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...=ClickInfo

It's the right spec (semi-synth, 5w/30 and to the appropriate Ford specification), it's a decent price and at the moment they're giving away a decent set of screwdrivers Mr. Green

Ring Yeovil Land Rover and speak to Nick to get a new filter and sump plug.

Instructions and list of bits you'll need here:

I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
