if it's economy you want … put the remap money aside and use it to discount your petrol station visits for the next 12/24 months.

I'm still debating this idea,,,,,
BAS and ALIVE are same price on website although ALIVE are closer for me.
Dynachip seems to be the next best with good reports and have a considerable saving compared to the above.
I would also require software patch which is another sum banged on top, decisions decisions Discovery3 TDV6 GS
Disco3.co.uk front orange +white tailgate stickers
Belts, pulleys, oil pump replaced, double tow-bar electrics
Land Rover rubber mats throughout, tinted windows, wind deflectors, smoked side repeaters, retro fitted Garmin, smooth leather steering wheel, cruise control + radio switches, 19" HSE wheels, Bearmech side-tubes, BAS IFBH module, roofbars.

I agree... If there was a Magic way to Improve Fuel Economy AND Improve 'Performance' I think LR would be doing it already...
IMHO
A re-map Can give you... Improved Performance and Increased Fuel Consumption!
OR
It can give you Increased Fuel Economy with Decreased Performance!
a LOT of the performance vs Economy is just about tweaking things a little and perhaps matching your driving style in the real world to the re-map..
So I agree .. If you want Increased Performance and Increased fuel economy you may be disappointed.. 1 TR6 Rusting away quietly

I had an Alive remap at the Launceton dealer. It has improved acceleration and torque and the engine feels smoother. Economy wise, no difference. That could be that the right foot can't resist the extra oomph!! However, the true benefits will not be realised if all the other induction bits are not up to scratch (i.e. EGRs, MAF sensor etc. etc.) My EGRs started to get clogged and caused excessive fuel consumption. I was in two minds as to whether to blank or replace. In the end I got a brand new set for £156.00 and had them fitted by my Indy (got a heart problem so can't stretch and undo things). The difference was astounding. Full on performance and good economy (for a Disco!!). I stripped, cleaned and lubricated the old EGRs and they are ready to be fitted when these new ones play up.
As previously mentioned, a remap is unlikely to improve fuel consumption unless you drive very carefully, in which case why have a remap?
At the moment most of my motoring is around local narrow lanes so not inducive to good economy. Ignoring the LR lie-ometer I'm currently getting around 24-25mpg, which for a Disco I think is good.
I get around 30-31mpg on a long run. 2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE

I would have to disagree with the no economy benefits.....caveated by as long as you use the car the same.
I remapped my D3, at first you will enjoy the added power and see little or no fuel economy benefits, but once you settle down then I found I was around 100 miles a tank better off. That was an Autologic Remap (by DM when at Strathearn) and K&N filter fitted. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I have a 2005 D3, and got an alive remap from Disco_Mikey.
Economy much the same BUT biggest difference is that I feel safer pulling out of junctions into traffic.
Gives enough extra oomph to join traffic safely
