29th... could be tempted. I'll get back to you I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I've been gently reminded that we're meant to be feeding and mucking out the animals at the village petting park from 29th to 2nd while the owners take a few days off. I know, I know, a bit like giving Gary Glitter the keys to Mothercare, but who's complaining?I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

over here in most countries there will be an animated roadsign close to the point of merging that clearly indicates cars should merge at the point where the two lanes come together. It translates as "zipping" - i.e. cars merge alternately between joining and main lanes.
Yes indeedy these were tried in the UK a while back - I think they worked - and then disappeared - not sure why, probably because it was thought up by Johnny Foreigner and suffered from NIMBY syndrome - you do know we have invented EVERYTHING thats any good in England and ALL the good ideas are from us alone
Seriously - I'm with Al on this one - the empty unconed off tarmac is there for a reason - for vehicles to drive on - if you wish to queue in Lane 1, rather than taking your place in one of two half length queues in Lanes 1 and 2, then that is your decision Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Head lights on when side lights will do...
If you don't need lights to see with, but need to be seen then side lights are enough in most cases....nil admirari

I'm with you there - but even more so when the offending car is stopped on the wrong side of the road (ala taxi driver style)

I am with Ent on the merging thing. As traffic comes to the merge, polite people pull in so that they don't have to cut other people up at the point where they merge. I will often slow down and then just keep pace with the queue and merge in turn as per the signs. Merge in turn, not drive up past all the queuing traffic and then force my way in at the last minute.
However knowing where the point to politely merge is difficult, but I do get hacked off with people who try to cut me up at the merge point. Still the D3 is good for putting people off cutting you up. Most of the people that want to cut in seem to be Audi or BMW drivers.D3 HSE MY05 Auto

keep pace with the queue and merge in turn as per the signs.
Trouble is, it needs everyone to adopt this, but the "polite" people (read "angry" people) dart in to line miles before the obstruction and double the time it takes to get through. Every study that has been done shows matching pace until the obstruction then merging is the most efficient means by far.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok?
