All depends of if you need the extra space. The RRS is a very nice car, had one when my other D4 was in for work, nice to drive but very small inide. Pain in the backside with two kids and all their jumk, plus the seven seats were missed although we do not use them much.
There have been several people who have done what you are doing and then a few months back swapped back the other way.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

so you think am going backwords then and just stick to my beloved d3.
You have a D3 HSE - in many respects IMHO a RRS is a step backwards.
If you want the extra performance talk to Pete Bell - BAS he can give it to you.
The lack of space & "bling" factor put me off the RRS.

Yes I think it may be a backwards step. If however you are single or just a couple a RRS may well be big enough but for a family I would stick with D3 MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

What's with all this "they're too small" stuff, not like its a Peugeot 107 or such like and many, many families have to make do with much smaller including 'all the kids stuff'
Have had both 2.7 D3 and RRS and soon to be going D4 to RRS again. Reasons for me are I don't need 7 seats and I like the driving 'ambience' of the RRS better. Am just as likely to go back to D4 again (company car scheme) and would be more than happy with either.
Think the D4 is fast catching up the RRS for 'blingness' personally
For me it would be a choice of what's available for best history/spec/VFM mix at the time I was looking unless really needed 7 seats

I've had this delemma several times, had test drives, done my home work, RRS appears to be slightly more economical etc,etc but once "the grass is greener on the other side of the fence syndrome " has worn off I return to the Discovery with open arms.
The ride in the discovery is better due to longer wheel base and larger profile tyres, the rear doors are wider, there is more legroom for rear passengers, you get 2 more seats, a sun roof in the HSE and they cost a few thousand pounds less than a comparable RRS, but you don't get a Range Rover badge on the front, this is the main down fall in a lot of people's eyes, Land Rover just does not have the same prestige as Range Rover. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Had similar thoughts but then saw Rooney driving one. Discovery OR a Range Rover for me. Anyway I'd get a jolly-good ribbing from the chaps at my club if I turned up in a Sporty model. It's the Labs you see - the Spaniels couldn't give a toss. Standards, chaps. Standards.

I too'd and fro'd between the RRS and D3 for ages, and it was because I "slightly" favored the exterior of the RRS but the interior of the D3 ....... I HATE the lump of a transmission tunnel in the RRS taking away so much space as it does.
In the end, it was the styling of the D3 in total that won me over ...... that chunky, utilitarian, bastige love-child of a G Wagon and a Hummer but with the class and style of Land Rover.

I took an 09 plate RRS out last week with the intention to swap... It was crap, Flat as a fart, rough ride, smaller inside and awfull driving position. I came back and told the guy to take mine out and see what he thought.. He agreed the £12000 to change would be stupid and couldnt belive how my D3 pulled and pulled and was so smooth. Ok i have had it re-mapped and k&n fitted at Twisted Performance but the difference was unreal!!
Ive now fitted new tyres, brakes, had her respayed in places to get rid of stone chips and fitted a private plate as i will be keeping her for a long long time.
