Hi,
Glad I found your site. We have recently been thinking about buying a D3 the 2.7V6 HSE in Silver with black interior.
Have had the older Discovery in the past and when the D3 first came out we were put off by her looks but it has kinda grown on us think it looks best in the Silver though.
I have been a member on several car forums and realise that problems with cars can seem greater because of the forum and things being more focused.
I had almost made my mind up to say yes to the deal which I thought was not bad best price for the HSE I've been offered is 41K until I started to read some of the threads under issues.
My question is how realiable will a 2006 D3 be and has many of the issues now been address by LR.
I know there great motors and the best out there but I don't want to walk back into another 4x4 with faults after having just came out of make with loads of issues.
Honest answer please as this will help make my mind up.
Thanks in advance
Frank.

Frank ...go to Guy Salmon Thames Ditton ....they're pretty good
Ragrding the D3, despite anything you've ever heard about past problems ............you'll never look back.
If you want to see some up close ...and we might even take you round the block, come to The Fairmile in Cobham next Tuesday evening and we'll sort you out
Otherwise , go for it 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

thanks for that but it does not really help me. Are you saying that I am to expect problems with the car and how quickly fixed will depend on what dealer I go to.

You can expect problems with any car ....all VA is suggesting is that some dealers are better than others ! 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Go for it! had a few issues - nothing that wasn't cured with a reboot and ultimately cured with a software update... wouldn't swap it for anything else - apart from another Disco3
It certainly justifies the 'best 4x4xfar' moniker 8)

So are you saying most problems have been sorted out by Land Rover. I will go to any dealer in the UK for the best price as I do not have a trade in.

The vast majority of known problems are now resolved or in progress - the car is a complete new model and as such with any manufacturer there were teethers. I have had my 2006 model S since December without a niggle and it's been about as off-road as you can get too ! 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I really do want to buy one it just fits in with our life style so well. One of my mates has the RRS and while it is a awesome looking car I can't help but think the interior room in the D3 has much more to offer for us.
My work means I am off road a good bit and the rear space with the third row seats down is massive.
The load space liner how does that work not seen one before but noticed it in the accessorie brochure

I would rather have any issues dealt with by a software update - as has been the case with most disco3 issues to date, rather than some spanner monkey changing bits, as was the case in the past. If you go through the many posts on here you'll find a few who have rejected their Disco3's- mainly due to the dealers inability to resolve issues. This is improving as they become more familiar with the product, it's not yet perfect across all dealers but a new build vehicle will have all the issues mentioned on here built - out
